Relating on a few encounters, some folks are worried about how and why they should consider a career path in data science or making their business more analytical-oriented.

I can relate, I didn’t start in-depth with python until 2021 even though I had surfaced it, for me there were some limitations which I’d be happy to share later on.

Let me gist you, I take personal courses in data science & AI to upgrade my skills (self-development) as learning is ever continuous. I’ll be sharing some insights and answers to some questions which might have come to your mind or perhaps you came across them in a discussion or reasoning.

Can I embark on data science without a CS degree?

Absolutely, yes you can. Several data scientists today are either self-taught or went through a boot-camp of some sort, etc. So if you are interested without having a computer science degree, please take the shot and start now!

What data science entails — business!

I once worked on a project where we needed to analyse a set of dataset, on a particular field/column the data entry wasn’t set to a unified format/standardised.

Why you should learn data science with python?

Python is popular, 1st place on the IEEE popularity index & Tiobe index.

It’s easy to learn, also very powerful in the industry of artificial intelligence & machine learning.

Practically in every field of human endeavour from health-care, finance, music, energy, manufacturing to sports etc.

You don’t necessarily have to switch career to apply Data Science in your job. The wide applicability makes it special.

How do I get started with Big Data Analytics with Apache Pyspark?

Python Pandas is a good library to use when starting as a newbie in data science, used for manipulation etc.

Pandas is rich however, when dealing with scalable and more complex data it is found wanting. How? Processing time is slower with Pandas. Why Spark?

Much suitable for complex dataset and scalable. Spark is also faster. It has Python, Scala, and Java high-level APIs.

Spark data-frames are distributed. PySpark is the Python API for Apache Spark, large-scale data processing.
